Report: Arsenal's 'exceptional' summer signing already up for prestigious award alongside Bellingham

Those at Arsenal are already more than happy with summer signing Marquinhos and the youngster is already on course when it comes to winning awards.

Marquinhos made his Arsenal bow in Europe recently and impressed massively. It’s believed the Brazilian has impressed Mikel Arteta, albeit the Gunners boss is still said to be open to allowing a loan move for the youngster in the January window.

Indeed, it’s not just at Arsenal where Marquinhos is impressing. Over in Italy, the Brazilian has been catching the eye of Tuttosport, who have included him in their list of players who could win their ‘Golden Boy’ award. Marquinhos is into the final 40, as the list whittles down from its original 100.

It’s clear that Marquinhos is catching the eye across Europe, then. He is in esteemed company too, with Barcelona starlet Pedri on the list and Dortmund midfield master Jude Bellingham also included. Certainly, it’s a list of high quality young players, with a few Premier League players in there as well.

Whether or not Marquinhos can win remains another question. The likes of Bellingham will be favourite, while there could well be some bias towards the Italian based players in there as well.

TBR’s View: Marquinhos A Steal For Arsenal

The Gunners paid around £3m for Marquinhos and what a bargain transfer that is looking like right now. In that Europa League appearance he was outstanding and there is no doubt the Gunners have got themselves a bargain.

For Marquinhos, the task now is to simply keep his levels and hope Arteta uses him during the season. Europe will give him minutes you’d sense, while the January window is an interesting one.

Right now, you’d assume Mikel Arteta would rather keep him around rather than let another club use his talents.
