Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham and Newcastle are keen on signing Sven Botman.

What’s the story?

According to L’Equipe (as per TEAMtalk), the citizens and Spurs are now joined by the Geordies and Irons in the race.

However, all four clubs will need to wait a year unless they want to pay a big fee for Botman.

Lille are keen to keep a hold of the 21-year-old for the upcoming Ligue 1 season. Les Douges will be looking to defend their crown after lifting the Championship last campaign.

It will take a fee in excess of €50m (£42.7m) for the central defender’s signature. Botman has been told he will not be sold this summer.

Manchester City already have viable defenders amid challenge with Tottenham for Botman

With the quartet of clubs named in the race to sign the ace, you feel the two big six clubs have the best chance.

However, Manchester City already have viable defenders at their disposal as they challenge Tottenham for Botman.

At 21-years-old, the star proves to be a very good player and certainly one for the future.

However, with the likes of Ruben Dias, John Stones, Nathan Ake and Aymeric Laporte, City already have an embarrassment of riches.

Signing yet another centre-back would be a foolish transfer decision, especially with the reported chase of Jack Grealish and Harry Kane
