Report: Manchester City include £10m-rated star in offer to sign Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish
ESPN claim Manchester City have included teenager Morgan Rogers in a deal to sign Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish, this summer. Initial reports simply suggested City had tabled £100million to sign the England ace. Now, reports say City have tabled £90million plus £10million-rated Rogers.
Grealish, 25, has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester City for the entirety of the summer window – and even beforehand. But it has taken until now for City to make an offer. The Telegraph claim City have launched an English record of £100million to get him – but ESPN say slightly different.
They say City have offered £90million and Rogers – who is valued by City at £10million. The teenage talent starred on loan at League One Lincoln during the second half of last season – producing 10 goal involvements in 28 outings. Villa want to keep Grealish, but the decision is up to him (ESPN).
Rogers and £90million is a brilliant Manchester City offer for Villa ace Grealish
What Villa are getting, instead of £100million up front, is a slightly less figure but a player included that has the potential to far exceed £10million. It means that in a few years down the line, Villa could end up selling Rogers for a much bigger fee. The eventual price could be north of £100million.
Born in the Midlands, Rogers came through the ranks at West Brom. But that will hardly be of concern if he joins Villa. While there is rivalry, it is not as strong as that of the second-city clash between Villa and Birmingham. If £90million and Rogers is on the table, Villa should take it – even reluctantly.
