Report: Liverpool will have to pay more than Sadio Mane transfer for 24-year-old
Liverpool will reportedly have to pay at least £35million this summer to prize Jarrod Bowen away from West Ham.
According to The Athletic, West Ham would need to receive an offer over £35million to consider selling their left-footed winger.
The Athletic previously broke news that the 24-year-old is on Liverpool’s radar this summer because they want to add more attacking options to their squad at Anfield.
If reports are true, the Reds would need to pay more than they signed attacker Sadio Mane for from Southampton in a £34million transfer back in 2016.
29-year-old Mane, who’s had a sensational five years on Merseyside, is rated as one of the world’s best wingers.
He’s scored 97 goals in 218 appearances in a Liverpool shirt, Therefore, he’s proof you don’t need to always sign the finished article.
Jarrod Bowen would be a Liverpool risk at £35million-plus
Liverpool may have set their sights on Bowen, but it would be risky to fork up a sizeable sum for him now.
The attacker has 19 goal contributions (9 goals, 10 assists) in 53 West Ham appearances, so is an important player at the London Stadium.
However, he’s still making a name for himself in the Premier League.
The risk is for Liverpool Bowen’s valuation could shoot up in the next year if he stays at West Ham and does well.
The club’s recruitment has been mainly top notch in recent years, so they should be backed to make the right decision.
