Report: Liverpool show interest in Josko Gvardiol amid Chelsea talks

Liverpool have expressed an interest in Josko Gvardiol, but a report from 90min has claimed that it is Chelsea who believe that they are well-placed to win the race for the centre-back.

The battle for Gvardiol’s signature is seemingly heating up. Of course, he enhanced his reputation as one of the best talents in world football with an amazing showing at the World Cup. Certainly, few will forget his incredible challenge against Belgium in the group-stages when Romelu Lukaku looked certain to score.

He has been linked with a Premier League move for some time. And it appears that he will indeed leave RB Leipzig in one of the next two windows.

However, they do not have a clear run at his signature. 90min suggests that Liverpool are amongst the clubs to have expressed an interest in Gvardiol. Tottenham, Manchester City and Manchester United are also admirers.

Whoever secures Gvardiol’s signature is landing an incredibly exciting talent. He is a brilliant centre-back. But he could have also easily been Croatia’s first-choice left-back during the World Cup.

Reports from Give Me Sport have suggested that he could cost £75 million. In truth, that has the potential to be a real bargain.

It appears that it will be Chelsea who likely win the race. But it is interesting that Liverpool now want Gvardiol.

In fact, Gvardiol has previously spoken of his desire to play for the Reds in the future.

“When I took football more seriously, I started following them, and I definitely want the Premier League and Liverpool one day,” he said, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

Of course, Liverpool have to be prepared to make Gvardiol one of their most expensive signings ever if they hope to snatch him from Chelsea’s grasp.

But he is an ‘incredible‘ talent. And he could be another game-changing addition for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
