'One day': £16m man makes bold Liverpool admission ahead of the summer move
Liverpool might have already signed Ibrahima Konate this summer but another RB Leipzig man, Josko Gvardiol, who dreams of Anfield.
Gvardiol is set to join up with the German side this summer after completing a £16m move at the back end of 2020.
The Croatian defender is recognised as one of the top up and coming youngsters in Europe for his position. The likes of Leeds United have previously watched him. Indeed, Gvardiol admitted he turned down a move to the Elland Road outfit just last year.
But, in an interesting turn of events, Gvardiol has admitted his dream of playing for Liverpool in the future.
“Since I was a little boy, my dad and I watched Liverpool matches. And I grew up with only them,” Gvardiol said. (via Liverpool Echo)
“When I took football more seriously, I started following them, and I definitely want the Premier League and Liverpool one day.”
Gvardiol is already capped by Croatia. He is expected to go onto big things but, at just 19, has plenty of time on his side.
Liverpool, no doubt, will be keeping tabs on his progress. His comments here just make a future move all the more interesting.
Gvardiol to end up at Liverpool? It’s all down to him really
You don’t just get a move to Liverpool do you at the end of the day. You need to be good enough, and also need to fit the team at that time.
For Gvardiol, it will be a case of getting his head down and working hard to realise his dream. RB Leipzig are the perfect platform for him to do that.
All eyes are on Konate for next season, of course. But down the line, Reds fans might just end up seeing Gvardiol alongside the big Frenchman.
