Arsenal and Liverpool are both interested in signing Christopher Nkunku as the 24-year-old continues to enjoy an unbelievable season, according to a report from ESPN.

Nkunku has been prolific for RB Leipzig this term. In all competitions, he has scored 19 goals and contributed 13 assists. Only Robert Lewandowski and Sebastien Haller have scored more often in the Champions League this season.

RB Leipzig managing director Oliver Mintzlaff recently insisted that Nkunku will be going nowhere this summer. However, several teams plan to test their resolve.

ESPN reports that Ralf Rangnick has added the Frenchman to Manchester United’s shopping list. But there is also interest from Arsenal and Liverpool. Manchester City and Real Madrid are also admirers.

Huge coup for Arsenal or Liverpool should they sign Nkunku

Leipzig are not necessarily in the strongest position. ESPN claims that his contract has two years left to run in the summer. And that appears to be a critical moment for some clubs.

It was reported before the turn of the year that they value Nkunku at around £51 million.

That may prove to be a bargain if he can maintain anything like this current run of form in the years to come.

Obviously, that is a huge ask. But his overall record in Germany is superb. He now has 71 goal involvements in 115 games for Leipzig. Julian Nagelsmann previously suggested he has real quality and great potential.

Arsenal certainly would not say no to a player of Nkunku’s ability and versatility. They desperately need reinforcements up front and in midfield this summer.

But Liverpool have proved that they can be a real force in the market. They stunned Tottenham by beating them to Luis Diaz in January.

Perhaps the Reds will set their sights on upsetting another North London side this summer by bidding big for Nkunku.
