Liverpool have been left impressed with Matheus Nunes since his move to Wolves and have reignited their interest in the midfielder, according to a report from the Sunday Mirror (2/10; page 78).
Of course, it has been a really poor start to the campaign for Bruno Lage’s men. They now sit in the bottom three in the Premier League with just one win in their opening eight games.

Nunes however, has been a shining light since his arrival for £42 million in the summer. The 24-year-old has been bright, driving at defenders and trying to make things happen. It does appear that Wolves are really suffering for not having an in-form striker in their ranks.
Liverpool reignite Matheus Nunes interest
But Nunes is winning admirers.
Reports from Correio da Manha in the summer suggested that Liverpool were keen for talks with Sporting about a deal for Nunes.

Ultimately, he ended up at Wolves. But the Sunday Mirror notes that he delayed making the move in the hope that Jurgen Klopp’s side would make their bid.
Obviously, the Reds did not manage to spring a late surprise. But perhaps that is not the end of the story.
The Sunday Mirror (2/10; page 78) claims that Liverpool have reignited their interest in Nunes after the start to the season he has enjoyed.
Wolves however, are not planning to let him go easily. The Mirror claims that they would want a huge fee for their record signing.
Liverpool definitely need to strengthen in the middle of the park next summer. A loan deal for Arthur on deadline day eased some of the problems Klopp’s side are dealing with.
However, Arthur has a lot of work to do to prove that he can make a long-term impact on Merseyside. He is still awaiting the chance to make his Premier League debut.
Obviously, Jude Bellingham would be the name at the top of the list for many fans next summer. But Nunes would be an ‘unbelievable‘ addition also.
And it seems that the Reds have their eye on the Wolves star once again.
