Report: Liverpool make their move to sign Barcelona star, Klopp's offered him £100k-a-week contract
According to Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, Liverpool have made a contract offer to Barcelona wonderkid Gavi to sign him in the summer transfer window.
Jurgen Klopp’s side spent big on Luis Diaz in the January transfer window and he is proving to be an incredible signing. The Reds, however, aren’t done just yet, and it looks like it’ll be a big summer.
Liverpool have a decision to make with respect to the futures of Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, who will both enter the final year of their contracts. Mo Salah is in the same boat too, but it’s clear that Liverpool are desperate to keep him. The only stumbling block seems to be the money.
Irrespective of what happens with them, the Reds are planning for new signings and Gavi is reportedly on Klopp’s wish list.
Liverpool make contract offer to sign Barcelona wonderkid Gavi
Romero revealed on his Twitch stream yesterday that Liverpool have indeed made a contract offer to Gavi.
The 17-year-old, who has become an absolute star in Spain, has less than 18 months left on his contract. Barcelona are trying extremely hard to extend his deal, but Liverpool’s offer could complicate things.
The report claims that Klopp has offered Gavi a deal that would see him earn a bit over £5 million a year. That’s about £100,000-a-week, which is outrageous money for someone who hasn’t even turned 18 yet.
Gavi, whose full name is Pablo Martín Páez Gavira, currently earns £2,200-a-week at Barcelona. (Salary Sport)
Gavi is definitely a superstar in the making.
The Spaniard is just 17 but he plays like he has been around for ages. He has played 33 times for Barca’s senior setup already and Luis Enrique has handed him four international caps as well.
Gavi has the potential to become one of the very best footballers in the world in the coming years.
Xavi is arguably the perfect manager for him to learn from, but he could become a star under Klopp as well and Liverpool fans will be hoping that they can lure the teenager to Anfield this summer.
