Report: Liverpool want Euro 2020 star as Salah replacement; could cost £43m

Liverpool are keen on signing Italian sensation, Domenico Berardi, after his impressive form so far for Italy in the Euro 2020 tournament.

The Express, via reports from Italy, claim that Berardi is high on the list of potential signings for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool.

Berardi, 26, could be available for around £43m, according to the report.

The Italian midfielder has been brilliant for Sassuolo in recent seasons and is now making his mark for Italy. Their impressive Euros start has seen consecutive 3-0 wins, with Berardi key in both.

How Lille Won The Ligue 1 Title Against All The Odds

Berardi has scored over 100 goals for Sassuolo, including 18 last season in Serie A. It is claimed that with just two years left on his deal in Italy, he could be open to a move away this summer.

Sassulo may be powerless to resist big offers, too. Big European clubs are circling, and they can offer the big money to Berardi in terms of wages.

Interestingly, Berardi isn’t the only one from Sassuolo who is wanted across the continent. As reported on TBR, Manuel Locatelli is also getting plenty of interest.

Sassuolo, then, could face a big summer. Losing one player of such quality is hard to swallow, nevermind two.

Berardi tailor-made for Liverpool? It seems that way

Pace? Check. Can run all day? Check. Goals and assists in the locker? Check.

Berardi seems to have everything Liverpool fans would love to see in any new signing. Especially, if that signing is to replace Mo Salah eventually.

Of course, Berardi would have a job ousting Salah for now. He’s still been in fine form and remains one of the Premier League’s top dogs. But on the flipside, Liverpool need to plan beyond that.

Landing Berardi could prove a shrewd move. Italians have had mixed success in England but this Azzuri side, managed by Roberto Mancini, has a different look about it.

Reds fans, then, would be right to be excited by the signing of Berardi if it came off.
