Report: Liverpool could now bid for Manuel Locatelli ahead of Arsenal and Juventus
Liverpool are the latest club to be credited with an interest in Italy and Sassuolo midfielder, Manuel Locatelli, who has been linked with Arsenal.
Locatelli has failed to agree a move from Sassuolo as yet. He is wanting to move to Juventus, but so far, no deal is in place to take the Italian to Turin.
It’s believed a £34m fee will be enough for Sassuolo to do business when it comes to Locatelli. Although, reports a few weeks back claimed Arsenal had had a £38.5m offer accepted.
Locatelli proved a key figure in Euro 2020 for the Italians as they ran out winners in the end. The giant midfielder scored two goals, and proved a vital player off the bench at times for Roberto Mancini.
Reports yesterday suggested that Juventus have once again failed to come up with the money for Locatelli. That has potentially left the door open for the Reds to make their move.
Statement signing from Liverpool?
This would be some turnaround if Liverpool suddenly come in for Locatelli and take him from the clutches of Juve and Arsenal. It’s looked all the while that the Gunners or Juventus will get him.
But with Liverpool selling fringe players to make money, and Gini Wijnaldum gone, a move for Locatelli seems more realistic than ever.
In terms of Gini replacements, they won’t come much better than Locatelli.
The Reds do need that new midfield player. And if they can land a Euro 2020 winner to plug the gap, then they’ll have done seriously well.
