Report: Arsenal have lodged £38.5m bid for Manuel Locatelli; Juventus still not close to matching
Arsenal have reportedly lodged a bid of around £38.5m for Sassuolo and Italy star, Manuel Locatelli, with Juventus still behind in their own offer.
That’s according to Sportsmediaset, who suggest that the Gunners have bid around 40m Euros (£38.5m) for Locatelli. The bid is thought to satisfy Sassuolo, although they are holding out for Juventus to make a move too.
Locatelli is believed to favour a move to Juve. But there is a growing belief in the Arsenal camp that they could muscle in on the deal.
Juventus are thought to be struggling for funds and have so far offered a loan move with a promise of payment down the line. But for now, the Turin giants are believed to be some way off convincing Sassuolo that offer will work.
The Gunners’ latest bid is more than a bid of around £34m which was reported in Italian media just last week.
Arsenal are starting to see the fruits of their labour when it comes to incoming transfers. They’ve landed Nuno Tavares, while Albert Lokonga and Ben White are close to being announced.
The addition of Locatelli would be a huge statement. The Italian was excellent during the Euros, and Arsenal fans would welcome such an addition.
In the midst of what is a big rebuild for Arsenal, the club are at least looking like being successful this summer. Locatelli certainly sends a message, and if Edu pulls this one off, he’ll gain huge respect in North London.
