Report: Liverpool closing in on £21m man who reportedly nearly joined Leeds

Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Dutch sensation, Noa Lang, with reports from Italy claiming the Reds now lead both Arsenal and Leeds in the race to sign him.

Calciomercato make the claim, suggesting that Liverpool have now moved to the front of the queue to sign Lang. It’s claimed that Arsenal are also near the front of the waiting line, while Lang apparently came close to joining Leeds in the summer.

Lang is seen as one of the top young talents in Europe thanks to a blistering campaign last season with Brugge. He scored 17 and set up another 11 in all competitions. Lang has already started this season well, too. The young winger hitting four and setting up five already.

It’s claimed a fee of between £21-25m would be enough for Brugge to do a deal for Lang. Indeed, Voetbal previously claimed Arsenal had put £25m to one side to land the 22-year-old.

Liverpool could well see Lang as the ideal January signing. They are set to be without both Mo Salah and Sadio Mane for a few weeks.

TBR’s View: Lang destined for the Premier League and ideal for Liverpool

When you look at players who can step into the void left by Salah or Mane and who are young enough to keep learning, Lang definitely fits the profile for Liverpool.

He is electric at times, and has already made his debut for the Netherlands’ senior side. Klopp needs another wide player. Even without losing Salah and Mane in January, he needs depth. Lang, then, is a bargain buy.

Lang has been lauded in Belgium. Indeed, pundits over there suggested he had a technique that ‘was not normal’ and that he was easily ‘the best player in the league’. Quite the plaudits!
