Report: Liverpool and Spurs tipped to be in running to 'outstanding' Euro 2020 star
A host of clubs including Spurs, Liverpool, and West Ham are all expected to be involved in the discussion around Denmark midfielder, Mikkel Damsgaard.
The impressive Sampdoria ace has been one of the shining lights of the Denmark squad this summer. The 20-year-old has lived up to the hype around him, and scored a great goal against Russia.
And now, La Razon have suggested that an ‘auction’ is set to take place after the Euros. Barcelona are named as suitors, while Liverpool, Tottenham, and West Ham are all expected to be interested.
Spurs’ interest is nothing new. We’ve covered their interest on TBR previously. Fabio Paratici is said to be a big fan of Damsgaard and could well look to bring him in.
It’s believed a fee in the region of £17-18m could do the business. However, Damsgaard’s performances this summer could see that price rocket.
The Dane has impressed, with Micah Richards being particularly impressed with him earlier in the tournament.
Damsgaard’s emergence in the Euros has come in the wake of Denmark having to experience the shocking situation around Christian Eriksen.
But the young midfielder, like so many of his Danish teammates, has stepped up in the face of adversity.
With so much interest in him, it seems increasingly unlikely that Sampdoria will be able to keep hold of their man. Goals, energy, and at just 20, ample room to get even better, Damsgaard is certainly a huge talent.
Spurs, of course, would love him. Liverpool, meanwhile, are looking to replace Gini Wijnaldum, whie West Ham are also looking to kick on.
It seems, then, as La Razon say, that an ‘auction’ could well and truly get underway shortly.
