Leicester City ace Wesley Fofana is out for between three to five months after suffering a fractured fibula and dislocated ankle.

What’s the story?

On Wednesday evening, the Frenchman suffered a horrible injury during the Foxes’ win over Villarreal.

Fofana was on the end of what Brendan Rodgers described as a ‘horrendous challenge’ from Nino. The Spaniard took to social media to send out a public apology to the 20-year-old centre-half.

There was fears the player could experience a prolonged spell on the sidelines.

However, according to L’Equipe, the defender will only be out for between three to five months. But, when you factor in the need to build up fitness upon return, Fofana most likely won’t be back before the start of 2022.

Fofana and Leicester lucky to escape long-term absence amid fibula injury

Fofana and Leicester are lucky to escape a long-term absence amid news over his fibula injury.

Pictures following the horrible challenge emerged on social media and were fairly gory.

It brought back memories of Aaron Ramsey’s own issue from back in 2010. As well as a fibula fracture, the Welshman also suffered a tibia fracture.

However, Rodgers will be breathing a sigh of relief over the immediate diagnosis of one of his trusted centre-halves.

Fofana will still be out for a few months, but, the club will be counting their lucky stars it’s not longer.

Meanwhile, one Leicester player is drawing interest this summer.
