Report: Leeds want £30m for Spurs and Newcastle target Harrison

Leeds United want £30m for Tottenham Hotspur target Jack Harrison this summer, with The Telegraph reporting that Newcastle are not prepared to pay that figure at this stage of the window.

Harrison is attracting attention after playing a key role in guiding Jesse Marsch’s men to safety. He scored eight times in the Premier League this past season, including the strike that all but confirmed that Leeds would be staying up.

Quickly, reports emerged that Tottenham and Newcastle wanted Harrison. And interestingly, it was suggested that the 25-year-old was open to leaving Elland Road.

Why Are The Most Expensive Transfers Always Failures?

Harrison has been a key player throughout his time at Leeds. But perhaps, he has felt that he may have to be open to moving on.

However, a move to St James’ Park appears to now be out of the question. The Telegraph reports that Leeds have set a £30 million asking price. And that has put the Magpies off, with their budget said to be between £80 and £100 million this summer.

It will be interesting to see what Tottenham make of that asking price. Certainly, Spurs look set to be amongst the big spenders in this window.

Leeds’ asking price looks to be reasonable. Harrison was one of their highest scorers this past season. And he has 50 goal involvements in 166 games for the club. Kalvin Phillips labelled him an ‘unbelievable‘ player after the final day of the season.

But he has also frustrated Leeds fans on occasion. Certainly, there were plenty of games this past year when he did struggle to make an impact. He was often criticised for getting himself into trouble when running with the ball.

But there is definitely huge potential there. Leeds will hope that he realises that at Elland Road in the years to come. But some will think £30 million is a decent figure should one of his admirers come calling.
