Report: Leeds United are now ready to negotiate with World Cup star once the tournament is over

Leeds United are planning talks with Serbia World Cup midfielder Sasa Lukic once his run in the tournament is over.

Italian outlet CMW claim that the Serbian could leave Serie A outfit Torino when the January transfer window opens.

They say he could wait until the summer to leave, and that Jose Mourinho’s Roma are also offering competition for his signature.

Leeds are not in talks yet and are happy to wait until Serbia’s run in Qatar is over, and they face a battle to get out of the groups.

Leeds plotting Lukic talks

Serbia are set to face Switzerland tomorrow (Friday) and need a win to qualify from a pool which Brazil have already ensured progression from.

Both sides have already lost to Tite’s men without scoring a goal; Serbia going down 2-0 before the Swiss were defeated 1-0 this week.

That means that Leeds could be in talks by the weekend, or perhaps they will have to wait even longer if Serbia go deeper and deeper into the tournament.

It has been reported that Leeds are leading the race and would hope to be at the front of the queue in the event of any winter exit.

He has started both of Serbia’s games at the World Cup so far, including Monday’s game with Cameroon, where they let a 3-1 lead slip to draw 3-3.

A first win at the tournament is needed to qualify for the round of 16 as the group stages come to a close this week, when Lukic will hope not to have to fly home.
