Report: Leeds show strongest interest in Nahitan Nandez
Leeds United are the side currently showing the strongest interest in signing Nahitan Nandez, according to a report from Tuttomercatoweb.
Nandez seems to have been on the Whites’ radar for some time. He was linked with Marcelo Bielsa’s side last summer.
And Italian outlet Cento Trentuno recently suggested that Leeds had reignited their interest. The report noted that his release clause stands at £30.5 million, but an offer of £26 million may be enough.
And those supporters are likely to be delighted with the latest update on the 25-year-old.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Leeds are showing the most concrete interest in the Uruguay international.
They note that Roma boss Jose Mourinho also wants Nandez.
Huge coup if Leeds manage to sign Nandez amid strong interest
Bielsa’s side are surely going to sign a new midfielder in this window.
Stuart Dallas enjoyed an amazing campaign when pushed forward into the number eight role. And Mateusz Klich was outstanding at times.
However, Dallas is also expected to provide cover in both full-back roles. Klich meanwhile, endured a lengthy dip in form in the second-half of the season.
So signing someone of Nandez’s calibre would be a real coup for Leeds.
Cagliari struggled in the Italian top flight this past season. But Nandez was a real shining light for the club.
And he could be a superb addition with his ability to play in holding midfield or as a box-to-box option.
He should be edging towards his peak. So he could certainly prove to be the kind of signing that helps Leeds build on their successful first year back in the Premier League.
The good news for the Leeds fans hoping Nandez arrives at Elland Road is that the latest reports have the Whites showing the strongest interest.
