Leeds United have made the first move to beat Newcastle to the signature of George Hall, with the Daily Mail reporting that the Whites are prepared to pay a seven-figure fee to sign the 17-year-old during the coming months.

Leeds have done some superb business when it comes to strengthening their under-23 ranks in recent years. Victor Orta has not always managed to avoid criticism for the business he has done involving first-team signings.

But many of the youngsters he has brought in look to have serious potential. Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood and Crysencio Summerville are amongst those in and around the first-team under Jesse Marsch.

Meanwhile, Marcelo Bielsa handed debuts to plenty of other prospects, many of which have been brought in from elsewhere.

Reports during the second-half of the season suggested that Leeds lead the race for Hall, who made his Championship debut for Birmingham this past season.

And it seems that the Whites remain determined to land the midfielder before he can head elsewhere. The Daily Mail reports that Leeds are willing to pay a seven-figure fee for Hall. And they have now made the first move amid rival interest from Newcastle and Brighton.

Leeds will hope that history can repeat itself. They signed Amari Miller from the Blues last summer. And he has gone on to impress on a few occasions for the under-23s.

The Whites have made a number of statements when it comes to bringing in some extremely talented younger players. And Hall has been labelled a ‘really exciting‘ player.

It will be interesting to see if Newcastle or Brighton plan to make a last-ditch bid with Leeds seemingly on pole position for the teenager’s signature.
