Leeds United have already enquired about signing James Garner from Manchester United as the Whites look to land more midfielders this summer, according to a report from The Athletic.
Leeds wasted little time getting their first deal of the window across the line. Jesse Marsch’s men signed Brenden Aaronson to bolster their ranks in attacking midfield.

But it is imperative that Leeds sign at least one central midfielder. And one of the names they have been linked with is Garner. The 21-year-old has enjoyed a brilliant campaign, helping Nottingham Forest to promotion.
He provided nine assists for Steve Cooper’s side. Reports previously claimed that Leeds are interested with Manchester United potentially open to permanent offers.

More recently, it has been suggested that his parent club plan to look at Garner in pre-season. But The Athletic is now suggesting that Leeds have already made an enquiry for the youngster. Those enquiries came during the second-half of last season.
Leeds enquired about James Garner
Garner is unproven in the Premier League. But he will surely be playing there next year one way or another. You would certainly imagine that Forest would want him to stay.
Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag will surely take a look at him. And Leeds simply cannot afford to let the window close without more options in midfield.
Garner is a ‘phenomenal‘ talent. Obviously, he would have to win Leeds fans over if he arrived from Old Trafford. It is probably fair to say that Dan James was under a little more pressure due to the club he joined the Whites from in a mixed first year at Elland Road.
But many are in favour of a move for Lewis O’Brien this summer. So surely, most would be happy with Garner joining too.
Both stood out in a nervy play-off final on Sunday. But crucially, it was Garner who provided the decisive assist.
