Report: Leeds could re-launch efforts to sign Nahitan Nandez

Leeds United could be about to fully re-launch their bid to bring in Nahitan Nandez, after his move to Inter Milan hit the buffers this week.

Nandez has been on Marcelo Bielsa’s radar for months now. Back in May, reports suggested that Leeds were going to bid for Nandez, with a £26m price-tag not putting the Whites off.

However, since then, Leeds have signed Junior Firpo and also backed away from talks with Nandez, believing Inter to have the upper-hand in landing the Cagliari star.

But Tuttomercatoweb now claim that Leeds are firmly back in the race to sign Nandez. It suggests that contact has been made once again between Leeds and the 25-year-old, and a deal could be struck.

Bielsa’s side endured a miserable opening weekend of the Premier League season. They were hammered 5-1 by Manchester United, with the need for a few new faces evident.

An opportunity too good to miss?

While it appeared any hope of Nandez arriving in Leeds was lost, this could be an opportunity the club and Bielsa feel they can’t miss.

Second-season syndrome is not something the Whites will want lingering over them. And yesterday’s defeat was something of a wake-up call.

If Nandez is open to the move and the fee is still around that £26m mark, then Leeds would be silly to pass up on this chance. Nandez is quality, and fills a position the Whites probably need to address.
