Report: Leeds are now very worried that Chelsea could sign £22m striker, he's 'extraordinary'
Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch will be hoping his side can bring in a few new players in January.
Marsch’s side currently sit just two points above the relegation zone as the Premier League restart approaches.
Leeds haven’t found goals hard to come by this season.
The Whites have outscored every other team in the bottom half of the table except Leicester City.
Rodrigo Moreno has been brilliant in front of goal, scoring nine times in 13 appearances.
His injury record isn’t the best though, and he’s not the only player suffering with fitness issues at Elland Road.
Patrick Bamford has been in and out of action for over a year, and his form has really suffered.
He’s still waiting to score his first league goal this season, and Marsch may want another option for the second half of the season.
The Evening Standard suggest Leeds are worried about their pursuit of Atletico Madrid forward Matheus Cunha.
The Brazilian is now an option for Chelsea, and the Whites may struggle to persuade him to head to Elland Road if their interest is serious.
Leeds worried about Cunha deal
The Evening Standard believe Cunha is ‘stalling on their interest’ after being told he can leave in January.
Once described as an ‘extraordinary’ player, Mundo Deportivo believe Leeds could sign the 23-year-old in January.
He moved to Atletico Madrid for £22m in 2021, but has struggled for game time in the Spanish capital.
Yorkshire Evening Post suggest Leeds have been big fans of Cunha since before his move to Atletico.
They’ve been keeping him contact with him for some time and hope this will help them win the race to sign him.
However, it’s understandable that Leeds are worried about Chelsea’s interest in Cunha.
After Armando Broja suffered a season-ending injury against Aston Villa this week, they’re likely interested in bringing in another forward.
This could really scupper Leeds’ plans to finally sign the Brazilian.
