Arsenal have lodged a £34.2m bid for Juventus and Italy star Manuel Locatelli, but are waiting to see if the Turin side match that offer.
The Gunners have, according to Gazzetta, put an actual offer in for Locatelli. That offer is said to be around the £34m mark. However, Sassuolo are said to be waiting to see if Juventus match that money.
Locatelli is said to favour a move to Turin. Sassuolo, then, are willing to see if the Serie A giants can match what Arsenal have put in for the Italian.

The midfielder is one of the most in-demand midfielders in Europe thanks to his consistent performances in Italy. Further, his excellent Euro 2020 campaign has only enhanced his repuation further.
The news follows on from reports just before the weekend that suggested Arsenal were still in the race for Locatelli. Fabrizio Romano said the Gunners were waiting in the wings, should Juve pull out of any deal.
Locatelli has been backed for Arsenal by a few in the media. Former defender Sol Campbell insisted this weekend he’d be a fine signing, while Kevin Campbell has also called the Italian world-class.
Arsenal mean business
The Gunners are making a real push for new faces. Nuno Tavares and Albert Lokonga are already through the door. Further, young players like Taylor-Hart and Okonkwo are also signing new deals.
If Arsenal want to go to the next level in the short-term, though, then players like Locatelli are important. He’s already at a level to make an impact in England.
If the Gunners do land him, then it will be quite the coup.
