Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Manuel Locatelli with Calciomercato reporting that Sassuolo have opened the door for Juventus to take the midfielder on loan.
The Gunners look to be waiting in the wings in the race to sign the Italian. According to Calciomercato, the Premier League side are prepared to pay £34.4 million plus bonuses for the 23-year-old.

However, it has been apparent for some time that Arsenal are underdogs. Locatelli is apparently desperate to join Juve.
And while the Old Lady are very keen to land Locatelli, agreeing a deal has proved to be problematic. It has previously been reported that Juve want to sign Locatelli on an initial loan.
It did appear that Sassuolo had no interest in such a deal. But their stance appears to have now changed somewhat.

According to Calciomercato, Juve have been told that they can take Locatelli on a two-year loan.
But they must agree to a £30 million obligation. They want a further £8.6 million in bonuses.
The report notes that Juventus now need to make a decision. But the feeling is Locatelli will end up in Turin.
Arsenal should welcome resolution on Locatelli future as loan door opens for Juventus
It is a blow for Arsenal to miss out. Locatelli looks to be an outstanding talent. And it would be a huge for the Gunners to bring him to the Emirates.
However, supporters seem to have been realistic about their chances for some time. Juventus are clearly overwhelming favourites.
There is an upside if this proves to be a breakthrough. Juve are surely going to struggle to agree better terms.
So surely the end of the saga is in sight. And that can only be good news for Arsenal.
Either Mikel Arteta’s men can switch their attention elsewhere, or perhaps Juventus will make a decision that leaves Arsenal as the only team that can offer Locatelli a fresh challenge this summer.
