Report: Juventus now have a strong interest in signing 'very dangerous' Tottenham target

Tottenham now face serious competition from Juventus over the potential signing of Pedro Porro.

Spurs are once again searching for a new right wing-back to finally solve the problem in that area of the pitch which is so important to Antonio Conte.

Porro has emerged as a top target but it remains to be seen whether Spurs will put the money on the table, with competition emerging from elsewhere.

Chelsea have money to spend and could provide competition, although Porro would need to compete with Reece James at Stamford Bridge.

Porro has serious interest from Juventus and Tottenham

Another of Conte’s old employers Juventus are also keen on the defender, according to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato Web.

It was reported in November that Juve had actually made Spurs defender Emerson Royal their top target after crashing out of the Champions League.

So if they did sign Porro, it would be a double blow for Spurs in terms of missing out on their top right wing-back target and losing a suitor for one of their current options in that role.

Spurs have signed a right wing-back under their past three permanent managers; Nuno Espirito Santo signed Royal, Jose Mourinho got Matt Doherty and Conte signed Djed Spence in the summer.

Conte made it clear from the off that Spence was a club signing and he looks set for a loan exit before the end of the transfer window.

Spurs are open to offers for Royal and Doherty, but unless an upgrade in the shape of Porro comes through the door, it seems Conte may have to work with what he has until the end of the season.

In November, The Scouting App wrote an in-depth scouting report about Porro.

They wrote: “Porro is a right-back, but can also play as a wing-back and on the right side of midfield.

“He is often tasked with unlocking the defensive faults of the opposition’s left-hand side and testing the backline with accurate crosses into the box.

“Porro can be considered a very modern right-back, with the great ability to be a strong part of the offensive phase and with his great precise crossing skills, Porro can be very dangerous when left the space to attack.

“Receiving the ball to feet the first-time cross is one of the things that make Porro special, he can time perfectly and accurately put the ball into the danger area.”

Spurs got the lift their season needed last January when they landed Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur, and two signings of a similar quality this month could have the same impact.

But we are seemingly some way from that place, with inevitable competition for any top players who are realistically available this month.
