Report: Juventus agree to let Atalanta sign Merih Demiral; Spurs will now complete Cristian Romero deal
It looks like Spurs will now be able to finally get their deal for Cristian Romero over the line, with Juventus playing a key role in the situation.
A deal for Romero has looked all but done since the weekend now. Reports at the weekend suggested a £43m fee had been agreed for the defender to make the move to North London.
However, the deal has not quite been signed and sealed as yet. That’s because Atalanta have been seeking a replacement for Romero.
But, that is all about to change, thanks to Juventus. Di Marzio have claimed that Juve are now going to allow Merih Demiral to make the move to Atalanta. That, in turn, will trigger a domino effect that will see Romero move to Spurs, and Juventus put up the money to sign Manuel Locatelli.
It means that Spurs and Fabio Paratici will get just the news they’ve been waiting for in the coming days. A deal for Romero is now expected to be completed, with the player in line to be available for the PL opener against Manchester City.
Romero to Spurs…finally!
As Fabrizio Romano likes to say, it looks like it’s a case of ‘here we go’ for Romero and Spurs. Finally, that is.
This one has dragged on in the last seven days especially but Paratici appears to have got his man. Of course, it’s a big outlay for Spurs but one they needed to make. Especially with Toby Alderweireld gone.
Romero should prove a fine addition to the Spurs ranks. It’s also a big statement signing, and one Spurs fans can get fully behind.
