Leeds United are edging closer to announcing Junior Firpo as their next signing, with Italian outlet Calciomercato reporting that he could undergo a medical early next week.
The Whites’ interest in Firpo appears to have moved rapidly. It was only over the weekend that the club seemed to be linked with the 24-year-old.

Within hours however, it became clear that Leeds were leading the race. Spanish outlet Sport claimed on Monday that Marcelo Bielsa’s side were closing in.
It was subsequently reported that Leeds were likely to take Firpo on an initial loan with a view to a permanent move. That would cost Leeds around £12.9 million.

Calciomercato reports that the Whites are set to land the left-back permanently. It is suggested that Bielsa explicitly requested he was signed.
And they add that he could undergo a medical early next week.
Leeds are getting stuck into transfer window – with Firpo medical ahead
Leeds took their time to get going this summer. But they now have their first signing through the door in Amari Miller.
And it looks as though supporters may not need to wait long for their next move.
Bringing Firpo to Elland Road would be a big statement from Bielsa’s men. He arrives with a big reputation. And the Whites certainly need a new left-back.
It remains to be seen if Gjanni Alioski will stay. But there seemed little doubt that Leeds needed greater quality in that area of the pitch.
Firpo should certainly bring that greater quality.
