Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon could join Italian side Lazio this summer, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Italian media outlet believe that former Chelsea boss Mauricio Sarri is keen to sign the 25-year-old this summer.

Reguilon’s time at Tottenham appears to be over, with Antonio Conte making it clear that the Spaniard is not currently in his plans.

The signing of Ivan Perisic this summer, and Conte’s faith in Ryan Sessegnon makes Reguilon surplus to requirements at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham have been looking for a solution for several weeks, but have yet to find a suitable club for Reguilon.

Corriere dello Sport believe that Lazio have been offered ‘very favourable conditions’ to sign Reguilon, with the English club largely covering his salary.

It’s been a very difficult few months for Reguilon at Tottenham.

The 25-year-old started last season as Nuno Espirito Santo’s first-choice left-back.

In December last year he was described as ‘superb’ by Graham Roberts, but things changed quickly for Reguilon.

Antonio Conte’s arrival saw Reguilon occasionally dropped to the bench, before a groin strain ruled him out for the last month of the season.

Sessegnon’s form in that time, plus the signing of Perisic, has effectively ended Reguilon’s Tottenham career.

The report from the Italian outlet says Reguilon wants a move to try and break into Spain’s squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

He has also been linked with a move to Nottingham Forest in recent days, but Corriere dello Sport believe he’s not keen on joining the newly promoted side.

Lazio are already aware that Reguilon wouldn’t be able to make an immediate impact in Serie A.

His groin injury hasn’t yet fully recovered, but this is a promising sign for Tottenham, who wouldn’t have to worry about Lazio rejecting him based on his current injury.

There appear to be plenty of options on the table for Reguilon, and with Lazio now offered the chance to sign the left-back as well, Tottenham must be increasingly confident they can secure a move away from north London for the Spaniard.
