Report: Inter schedules meeting with £57k-a-week star, Tottenham and Pochettino are keen
CalcioMercato says Inter Milan and Marcelo Brozovic have scheduled a meeting to discuss his future – with Tottenham and PSG interested.
Brozovic, 28, is out of contract at the end of the season and clubs are becoming interested in the 2018 World Cup finalist. He is an Inter favourite.
Joining the club initially on loan in 2015 from Dinamo Zagreb, the Croatia midfielder has since gone on to play 251 times for the Nerrazzuri.
Reliable in possession, hardworking without it and a leader in the dressing room – he was crucial to Antonio Conte’s side as Inter won Serie A.
But his future is in doubt. A recent report said Tottenham were battling Mauricio Pochettino’s PSG and Manchester United for his signature.
Tottenham and Pochettino blow: Brozovic schedules Inter meeting
However, the new report states that Brozovic and his Father have scheduled a meeting with Inter – to discuss a potential new deal at the club.
The report states that Brozovic is currently earning just £57,000 a week – and the midfielder is keen on a pay rise. Meet his demands, or he is off.
Of course, this comes as a blow to Spurs, PSG and United. They were hoping that he would remain out of contract in June, and could be signed on a free.
However, there appears that there is a willingness from both parties to sort out his future. It just depends if Inter are willing to meet his wage demands.
For now, Tottenham, United and PSG will have to wait. But if he remains out of contract in the summer on January 1 – a pre-contract can be signed.
