Report: 'Incredible' player now faces leaving on a free transfer next year, just months after rejecting Tottenham move

Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore is now heading into the final year of his contract and the Athletic reports that he is now most likely to leave Molineux for free next summer

The 26-year-old spent the second-half of last season on loan at Barcelona after reportedly rejecting a ‘life-changing’ offer from Tottenham Hotspur

Traore has been described as ‘incredible’ but he now faces running down his contract at Wolves after an underwhelming spell at Barca.

Traore most likely to leave Wolves on a free transfer

The Athletic reports that Traore is now ‘most likely’ to remain at Wolves for the coming season and leave on a free transfer next summer

Wolves would have preferred to sell the player during the current window in order to get a fee for the Spanish winger.

But there have been no offers and hardly any interest in Traore so far this summer and it’s not what the player and Wolves wanted.

The Spain international is also struggling with a hamstring injury currently and may be ruled out for the start of the Premier League season, which isn’t helping the lack of interest in the player.

Traore may be wishing he took Spurs’ ‘life-changing’ offer

Traore made a decent start to his career at Barca and actually put up two assists in his first two La Liga games.

But after that, he didn’t manage a single goal involvement for Xavi’s side and was in-and-out of the first-team.

After the unsuccessful loan spell in Catalonia, he may be wishing he joined Antonio Conte’s Spurs in January instead.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham Hotspur made a life-changing offer to convince Adama Traore to join them in January.

But the Wolves man opted to join Barcelona instead and now he faces the prospect of running his contract down at Molineux due to an apparent lack of interest in the player.

It was reported by Football.London that Conte was keen to bring Traore to Spurs and convert him into a wing-back.

But now Tottenham have signed Djed Spence from Middlesbrough and the Italian has three right wing-backs in his current squad.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs will make another move for Traore during the current window but as things stand, the winger will be playing his football in Wolverhampton this season.
