Report hints Leeds and Atletico are favourites for seven-goal winger; club may even accept initial loan
A report from Calciomercato. It appears to have suggested that Leeds and Atletico Madrid are favourites to sign Josip Brekalo, who is keen to leave Wolfsburg this summer.
Brekalo scored seven goals in the Bundesliga last season. And he followed that up with three appearances for Croatia at Euro 2020.
A host of clubs are monitoring the 23-year-old. According to Calciomercato. It, Atalanta, Fiorentina and Inter all want the winger.
Interestingly, the report then adds that there is particular interest from Atletico and Leeds.
And then Calciomercato. It goes on to claim that the La Liga and Premier League admirers are favourites to sign Brekalo.
Wolfsburg hope to make at least £15.5 million to £17.2 million for the youngster. But, as previously reported, they may also be open to a loan deal with an obligation to buy attached.
Brekalo is reportedly keen to join a new club in this window.
Signing Brekalo would be coup for Leeds as report hints Whites are among favourites
It would be an impressive piece of business if Leeds signed Brekalo. Atletico and Inter go into this season as defending champions of their respective nations.
Atalanta meanwhile, can also offer Champions League football next term.
The Croatian is a player capable of playing all over the attacking line. He even made one league start as a striker last season.
So you can understand why Marcelo Bielsa may be keen. And judging by the latest reports, the Whites may find themselves in a fantastic position.
