Harry Winks was visibly furious with Tottenham Hotspur teammate Davinson Sanchez during their game against Southampton last night.

Spurs went into the game looking to leapfrog their fierce North London rivals Arsenal but Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men spoiled the party.

Tottenham led 2-1 until the 79th minute, but poor defending handed the Saints two goals in the space of about two minutes. Looking at the numbers from the game, you can argue that Southampton deserved the win, but Tottenham could’ve easily secured the three points even though they weren’t great.

Antonio Conte will not be happy with his defenders and neither was Winks in the first half.

Emerson Royal was arguably at fault for both of Southampton’s goals in the second half, but a moment before the break, when Stuart Armstrong was given time and space to have a pop at goal, was what infuriated Winks.

Sanchez should’ve been a lot more alert at that point and even though the shot went wide of goal, Winks decided it was time for him to say something to wake his defenders up.

Football London report that the Englishman furiously turned to Sanchez and gestured that the Colombian should’ve closed the ball down and blocked the shot instead of maintaining his distance and turning away.

“He wasn’t happy at all,” claims the outlet and it was visible for everyone to see.

TBR View:

Sanchez has definitely improved since Conte was appointed as Tottenham manager, but a lot of his game still needs work before he can be called a top-level defender.

The Colombian, who cost Tottenham an eye-watering £42 million in 2017 (BBC), has had a few good games over the last four-and-half years, but he is yet to live up to all the hype.

Conte would’ve definitely had a go at him as well as Emerson after the game yesterday and both players will have to pull their socks up if they want to remain regular starters at the club next season.
