A fresh report on Wednesday has given a negative update on the progress of Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso from his injury problem.

The 24-year-old hasn’t featured since December when he suffered a hamstring injury against Leicester City.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho confirmed on January 22 that the Argentine was still due to miss a few weeks, but today’s report suggests he may not feature again until March.

According to the Evening Standard, Lo Celso may not be back to full fitness until the end of February or early March.

The report explains his injury played a part in Spurs being reluctant to allow Dele Alli to leave on loan.

Lo Celso, 24, is an attacking midfielder that has scored five goals in just 19 appearances this season in all competitions, which is why it must be frustrating for manager Jose Mourinho that he’s currently sidelined.

The £27.2million (BBC) star is a left-footed creator that prefers advanced midfield positions, but defensively he does have a real bite and aggression with his tackling approach.

TBR’S View:

If Lo Celso is to be out for the next month, then surely Mourinho will at some stage give fringe player Alli the chance to impress.

Argentine playmaker Lo Celso is a brilliant player on his day and he fits the manager’s style well, but it feels like he’s yet to show everything he’s capable of in the Premier League.

Harry Kane’s current absence through injury means there is a real lack of creativity in the team and that’s something Lo Celso can give.
