Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Giovani Lo Celso is “definitely out” of Spurs’ FA Cup fourth-round tie on Monday night.
The North Londoners head to Adams Park in three days’ time to face Wycombe, who are currently bottom of the Championship.
Mourinho spoke at his pre-match press conference on Friday and was asked about the team’s fitness and injury situation going into next week’s game.
The Spurs boss said Matt Doherty, Dele Alli and Serge Aurier all have issues, but whilst they are doubts, Lo Celso is certain not to play a part.
“The injured players that are not doubts about playing or not playing is Lo Celso, who still has a few more weeks,” Mourinho told football.london.
“Apart from that we are talking about small injuries, question marks and doubts in that little group we have two or three players with small problems that I am not sure they can play the match on Monday.
“Matt Doherty, he was not involved at Sheffield United, I’m not sure he will recover, Dele All is not training in the last couple of days, a small problem in the tendon and Serge Aurier also is not really well.
“We have a few but out at this stage, still three days before the match, the only one I can say completely out is Gio.”
Lo Celso’s time at Spurs hasn’t exactly been plain sailing all the way, with injuries and loss of form holding him back.
When fully fit and on form, the 24-year-old is unplayable, but sadly this is not very often.
Lo Celso has been out of action since before Christmas, picking up a hamstring injury in Spurs’ 2-0 defeat to Leicester.
He has missed 10 games so far this season due to injury, a tally which looks likely to go up.
