Report: Frank Lampard now ready to sell 26-year-old Marco Silva signing at Everton this summer
Everton are willing to sell midfielder Jean-Phillipe Gbamin this month, according to The Times.
The report suggests that Frank Lampard is prioritising improving his midfield, with former Toffee Idrissa Gana Gueye heavily linked with a return to Goodison Park.
However, Everton are ready to sell Gbamin this month if an appropriate offer is made, after having his time in the Premier League ruined by injuries.
The Ivorian international was signed for an eye-watering £25m fee in 2019, but has only managed to play eight times for Everton in the past three seasons.
He returned for 11 minutes against Crystal Palace in May 2021, only to miss the rest of the season with a knee issue.
Everton ready to sell Gbamin
The holding midfielder joined CSKA Moscow in February this year on loan, and was a regular starter during his four-month spell there.
However, his performances in Russia weren’t enough to convince Lampard that he could be an option going into this season, and now Everton want to recoup some of the transfer fee they paid Mainz.
Gbamin is likely keen to put his torrid spell at the club behind him and move on, and the run of games he played out on loan will hopefully convince any potential suitors that his fitness is no longer an issue.
Everton have already signed James Tarkowski, Ruben Vinagre on loan and Dwight McNeil, and are reportedly interested in ‘one of the best dribblers’ in the Premier League.
