Report: Fiorentina plot contract talks with Liverpool target Amrabat
Fiorentina will meet with the agent of Sofyan Amrabat before the end of the year in the hope of convincing the Liverpool target to sign a new contract with the club, according to a report from Calciomercato.
Amrabat has been one of the revelations of the World Cup. He was ‘outstanding‘ as Morocco reached the semi-finals of the tournament, ultimately missing out on a place in the final after an agonising defeat to France.
The 26-year-old is likely to be in many people’s teams of the tournament. And it seems highly likely that Fiorentina will now face a major battle to keep him in Florence.
Fiorentina want to hand Amrabat new contract
Gianluca Di Marzio recently told SoccerNews that Amrabat dreams of joining Liverpool. And his agents are pushing him towards the Reds amid rival interest from Tottenham. The journalist added that he could now cost £40 million.
However, Fiorentina are not going to give him up without a fight.
According to Calciomercato, I Viola want to hand Amrabat a new contract. It is noted that they would ideally like him to be taken off the market. However, they are aware that handing him fresh terms will at least strengthen their negotiating position.
They plan to meet his agent before the end of the year for talks.
January is going to be a very intriguing month. Amrabat may be keen to move on while his stock is so high. He may be wary of passing up the opportunity to join a club like Liverpool.
Much may depend on how hard the Reds push to secure his signature. Amrabat clearly has a good thing going with Fiorentina. So he may be content to stick around if his admirers are not prepared to make a big play for a deal.
