Newcastle United appear to be closing in on the signing of Alexander Isak.

On Wednesday, multiple reports emerged claiming the Magpies had struck a deal over the Real Sociedad striker.

ESPN claimed Newcastle had agreed to sign Isak for €70m (£59.1m) including €5m (£4.3m) in add-ons.

Now, Cadena COPE reporter Marco Antonio Sande has provided another exciting update.

He has taken to Twitter to claim that Isak is already ‘flying to England’ to complete the deal.

Sande claimed that the deal involves an initial €70m fee plus €5m in add-ons.

He also recalled that Isak had a €90m (£76m) release clause at Sociedad.

Fair play to Newcastle for flying under the radar to secure the signing of one of the best young strikers in world football.

The Magpies look set to smash their transfer record – the £40m they paid for Joelinton in 2019.

Isak is an “exceptional” talent who would complement and bolster Newcastle’s direct, quick attacking threat.

His ability to play across the front line would also be of benefit to Newcastle, allowing Eddie Howe to rotate his attacking options.

Though Isak only scored six league goals last season in La Liga, he was prolific two seasons ago.

The Sweden international scored 17 times as Real Sociedad finished in fifth place.
