Report: Everton see £8m bid rejected for Rangers star Nathan Patterson

The Daily Mail claim – as per The Record – that Rangers have turned down an £8million offer from Everton for right-back Nathan Patterson.

Patterson, 19, has broken into Steven Gerrard’s Rangers side over the past 12 months and clocked up 18 appearances at senior level for the Gers.

His form, albeit brief in terms of overall experience, was enough for Steve Clarke to include him in Scotland’s Euro 2020 side earlier this summer.

The Scotland star was missing from the Rangers side that beat Celtic on Sunday, having got caught up in an outbreak of positive tests at Rangers.

It also saw Gerrard miss the game, having to watch from home and give teamtalks via video link. But Gerrard has made a decision on Patterson.

Patterson to Everton: Rangers and Gerrard reject Benitez bid

The Mail claim – as per the Record – that Everton have made a new and improved offer for Patterson. Initially, a £5million bid was turned down.

Now, Everton and Rafa Benitez – Gerrard’s old gaffer at Merseyside rivals Liverpool – have rejected an £8million bid for Patterson.

With less than 48 hours to go, it remains to be seen if Everton will improve their bid for Patterson. Or, pursue other options in the coming hours.

Indeed, reports say Gerrard was not happy with the first bid. He is hardly impressed at a second one being put on the table for his young right-back.

Gerrard has admitted Rangers need to sell but clearly, he will not sell cheap. He is determined to keep Patterson away from the clutches of Everton.
