Everton are considering a move for Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz, according to the Daily Mail.

The report suggests that Ligue 1 side Nice have already submitted a £10m offer for the Chilean forward, but are facing competition from Everton for his signature.

Everton have been considering a whole host of forwards this summer to strengthen their forward line.

The sale of Brazilian star Richarlison to Tottenham for £60m provided Everton with much needed funds, but left a hole in their squad they’ve yet to fill.

A move for Bamba Dieng has not been ruled out after Lampard took personal interest in the striker, and the manager has held talks with Neal Maupay too.

An injury to Dominic Calvert-Lewin was a nightmare scenario for Frank Lampard given his lack of other options, and that’s exactly what happened days before their game against Chelsea.

Anthony Gordon has been deployed in an unfamiliar central in his absence, but had little success thus far.

Everton consider move for Brereton Diaz

The 23-year-old Brereton Diaz has had a fascinating career to say the least up to this point.

Born in Stoke-on-Trent, the forward was then called up by Chile after it was discovered on Football Manager that he was eligible to play for the South American side.

Brereton Diaz couldn’t help Chile qualify for the World Cup, but had a brilliant season in the Championship last year.

Only Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic and Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke outscored Brereton Diaz in England’s second tier last season.

The ‘brilliant’ forward would give Lampard a similar option to Calvert-Lewin, with both players good in the air and able to contribute defensively out of position.

Calvert-Lewin’s injury issues are nothing new, as he only managed to play 17 league games last season, and his form dipped as well, as he was only able to score five goals.

He’s been courted by Premier League sides in the past, with David Moyes telling West Ham to go out and sign him in January, but the prolific forward stayed put.
