Everton have held productive talks with the representatives of Brennan Johnson as they look to see off competition from a host of sides for the youngster’s signature, according to a report from The Independent.
Johnson has unquestionably been one of the stars of the season in the Championship. He has scored 15 goals and contributed 10 assists for Steve Cooper’s men as they continue to push for promotion.

The Independent reports that he is out of contract in 2023 and unlikely to stay at the City Ground beyond that if they fail to get promoted. Forest meanwhile, would want up to £25 million for the Wales international.
There are a host of teams looking at a potential move for the forward. The Independent reports that Brentford have offered him personal terms, with Newcastle, Leicester and Villarreal also in the running.

But Everton also find themselves in the mix. The report claims that the Toffees held productive talks with his representatives in the last week.
It is noted that Everton’s hopes of winning the race for Johnson largely depend on Frank Lampard’s men staying in the Premier League.
Brennan Johnson exactly the kind of player Everton need to build team around moving forward
Whatever happens, Everton have to change their approach in the market this summer. They started to do that in January with the signings of Vitaliy Mykolenko and Nathan Patterson.
But the fans want to see players who can get them out of their seats. Anthony Gordon has been that for much of this campaign. And Johnson is another who would tick that box.
He has been ‘brilliant‘ in the Championship this season. And at £25 million, he would not cost an outrageous amount either.
