Report: Elche expect Leeds' Kiko Casilla to seal loan move this week amid claims Orta has replacement lined up

Elche are expecting Kiko Casilla to seal his loan move from Leeds United this week, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo.

Casilla looks set to leave Elland Road after two and a half years with the Whites. Around half of his spell so far was spent as the club’s number one.

According to Mundo Deportivo, a deal between Leeds and Elche is close. It is claimed that he is expected to seal his loan switch this week.

It remains to be seen if there is scope for a further deal. Previous reports suggested that the La Liga side will have the option to make the move permanent.

Leeds fans may have mixed feelings as Kiko Casilla closes in on Elche move

Casilla has had an interesting time at Leeds. Of course, for many, his spell should have ended when he was found guilty of racially abusing Jonathan Leko in 2019.

On the pitch, Casilla has come in for plenty of criticism. He made a number of costly mistakes in his first few months with the club.

And Illan Meslier has been a revelation since coming into the side while the Spaniard was suspended.

Having said that, Casilla seemed to be a very good player to have in the backup role last season.

He actually did well in the three league games he played last year. And as an understudy, Leeds may do well to find a better option.

The Daily Mirror recently suggested that Victor Orta does have his replacement lined up.

So it does look to be best for all concerned if Casilla moves on.
