Leeds United’s hopes of landing Edinson Cavani appear to be fading by the day, with Bayern Munich now reportedly keen on the Uruguayan striker.
According to a report from the French news outlet, Le10 Sport, Cavani has emerged as a target for Bayern as they look to provide Robert Lewandowski with some much-needed back up for next season.

The big Poland striker has been in sensational form this year and was many people’s pick for the World Player of the Year which was subsequently cancelled.
But Cavani represents an experienced and quality option for Munich should they wish to pursue him. The PSG man is set to be a free agent and was linked (ESPN) with a sensational move to Leeds last week, as Victor Orta confirmed the club would like to sign him.

However, mammoth wages seem to be a problem for any admiring clubs. Cavani is reportedly looking for around £350k-a-week. Those sorts of figures mean it is only clubs like Bayern, then, that will be able to afford him.

The excitement around Leeds returning to the Premier League is very much real. And with that will come a host of names being linked with the club.
Cavani’s name was a massive surprise, of course, and while you have to admire Leeds’ ambitions, the reality is they were never going to be able to land the 33-year-old.
His wages, stature, and reputation in the game just meant the odds were stacked against the Whites anyway. Now, with Bayern in the mix, it makes it increasingly less likely that Leeds will land their man.
It’s a shame, but most Leeds fans will probably admit it was more of a dream signing than a reality when it came to Cavani.
