Leeds United have been sensationally linked with a move for Edinson Cavani in recent days, as the transfer rumours following the Whites’ promotion begin to gather full pace.
ESPN Uruguay claimed this week that talks had actually begun over a move to Elland Road. This came after Andrea Radrizzani had claimed that Leeds could well be interested in landing the star striker.

Cavani is set to leave PSG this summer after spending seven years with the French giants. In that time, he’s managed over 200 appearances, finding the net on more than 130 occasions too.
If Leeds did manage to sign him, it would represent a remarkable splash in the market and some statement from the club’s owners.
However, recent reports from A Bola claim that Benfica have pulled out of a deal to bring Cavani back. And while on the surface this might appear to be one element of competition out of the way, the reality is probably different.
Huge wages, that Leeds surely aren’t going to pay
Earlier in the week, Sempre Inter had claimed Cavani would be looking for around £210,000-a-week in order to sign with a new club.
Those figures are staggering. But as mentioned, A Bola have claimed that the figure might have increased even more.

Indeed, the actual sum the 33-year-old is looking for is said to be in the region of £18m-a-season. That would represent an even bigger hike in wages, coming in at a ridiculous £346k-a-week deal if true.
There is, then, no way that Leeds, or any Premier League club barring the likes of City or United, are paying that out for Cavani.
While talk of Cavani to Leeds is exciting and represents how good it is for the club to be back in the big-time, it appears supporters might have to put dreams of the Uruguayan signing to one side.
