It could easily be argued that Newcastle United are the most improved team in the Premier League this season.

After a solid start, they’ve found their feet since the last international break and deservedly sit in the top four.

A report from The Athletic has highlighted some of the work Eddie Howe has been doing behind-the-scenes at the club.

Since arriving at the club, Newcastle fans have seen several of their players transformed under Howe.

Joelinton has grown into his new central midfield role alongside Bruno Guimaraes after struggling as a centre-forward.

However, arguably the most improved player in the Premier League this season has been Miguel Almiron.

The Paraguayan winger has always been recognised by Newcastle fans as a bit of cult hero.

His work-rate has never been questioned and his fitness in a side with plenty of attacking players who regularly pick up knocks has been important.

But he’s been a player reborn this season, and the report from The Athletic suggests Almiron has been working on his shooting a lot.

It’s certainly paying off, as Almiron has already scored seven goals this season, his highest tally in the Premier League.

Almiron has been working on his shooting loads

The Athletic suggest that Newcastle’s coaches have specifically been working on his technique.

Specifically, he’s been instructed to shoot high into the net rather than keep his shots low.

That was evident to see with his beautiful curling effort against Aston Villa at the weekend.

His technique has certainly improved too, as was shown by his brilliant volley against Fulham.

The £42k-a-week winger has two forwards in Callum Wilson and Aleksandar Isak he can learn from.

Howe has previously commented on how hard Almiron works in training, saying he’s ‘just incredible’.

A previous report from The Athletic suggest that Newcastle coaches think he’s perfect for Eddie Howe’s system.

Howe will keep working on Almiron’s shooting in training as the results so far have been incredible.

He’ll have an uninterrupted month to continue coaching the Paraguayan when the World Cup kicks off shortly.
