The constant speculation around Harry Kane potentially leaving Tottenham last summer dominated headlines, as Manchester City made it known they wanted the England skipper.
As we know, though, Daniel Levy held his nerve and insisted on a mammoth fee for Kane. Instead, City moved on and signed Jack Grealish for £100m instead. However, the saga doesn’t seem to be completely over with the summer months not far away. Kane could still end up leaving. He is thought to be seeking assurances over squad investment, while he’s also keen to see Antonio Conte remain in charge.

But just what could Tottenham have got for Kane last summer? Well, according to The Telegraph, not as much as some might have imagined. Their report today claims that the only actual bid to come from City to Spurs for Kane was in the region of £75m, with a further £25m in add-ons. Beyond that, The Telegraph reports how City considered offering a number of players, including Raheem Sterling, to make the deal happen.
Kane has scored just the five Premier League goals this season. Coincidentally, Spurs take on City this weekend in a huge Premier League clash.
TBR’s View: Tottenham Right To Stand Their Ground In The End
There is no doubt that Tottenham’s issue in selling Kane would have been who with and how they replace him.
Years back, we saw them cash in on Gareth Bale but the money was spent on players who, in the main, failed to really achieve much at the club.
But, this summer is likely to be big again. Kane will have one eye on City again. And if the money does come Levy’s way once more, it could test his resolve even more than ever.
