Report details Antonio Conte stance on Arsenal job
A report from CalcioMercato has detailed the stance of Antonio Conte on the Arsenal job – the Italian is not convinced about replacing Mikel Arteta.
The current Arsenal gaffer waved goodbye to some pressure on Wednesday night with a brilliant 6-0 win over West Brom in the Carabao Cup.
But Arteta remains under pressure in the league and it looks more than likely he could go into the international break with three league losses.
They claim that Conte is a priority if they choose to sack Arteta. Even though, Conte wants wages in the region of a whopping £196k a week.
Conte stance on Arsenal job: Lack of European football a big miss
The Gunners are not even in the Europa Conference League, like their North London counterparts. It proves a big block in attracting names.
So, if Arsenal do choose to rid themselves of Arteta – it will prove difficult to bring Conte in as a replacement. Tottenham failed to do so this summer.
Arsenal need to realise their place. While they might have the history, the facilities, the spending power – they are a mid-table Premier League side.
Aspiration of a top-six finish is all well and good – but they have finished well outside of that in the past two seasons. Arsenal are below Conte.
Especially after Conte won Serie A with Inter last season. The Gunners need to be more realistic in the managers they go after, if Arteta goes.
