Report: Dest rejects Arsenal after receiving interest from three clubs

Barcelona defender Sergino Dest has reportedly rejected interest from three clubs including Arsenal.

What’s the story?

According to Sport, the Dutch-born ace received interest from Borussia Dortmund, AS Monaco and the Gunners. However, Dest turned down all three clubs.

It is reported the player is only thinking about succeeding with the Catalan giants.

Dest joined Barcelona last summer for a deal worth a reported £23.4m from Eredivisie side Ajax. He was a key part of Ronald Koeman’s first team, making 44 appearances.

Nevertheless, Dest has drawn attention from all around Europe, including the north Londoners. Arsenal could lose Hector Bellerin this summer, with the player’s agent in London for a meeting with the club.

Arsenal handed potential blow

It probably goes without saying but Arsenal have been handed a massive blow amid the rejection of their offer from Dest.

Replacing Bellerin would have been a tricky move with the current market conditions. However, Dest proved an ideal replacement.

His passing statistics are what made the 20-year-old stand out as a lead candidate.

While Bellerin averaged a pass accuracy of 83.8%, the American averaged 90%. His comfort on the ball means he could have fulfilled that inside right role perfectly for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Rejection is a bitter blow. Arsenal will need to move on in their search for a new right-back as they look to replace Bellerin.

Meanwhile, one Arsenal target has been discussing his future
