Arsenal have reportedly made an enquiry to sign Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan this summer. The Argentine attacker is of interest to Arsenal but Inter want to keep him and have not paid much attention to Arsenal’s approach. Now, Martinez has spoken about his future, amid Arsenal links.
Martinez, 23, was sensational for Inter last season. Clocking up 48 appearances in all competitions for the Nerrazzuri, Martinez scored a whopping 19 goals and conjured up 11 assists. That is, despite starting 38 of his 38 – and completing 90 minutes on just 10 occasions.
Now, The Telegraph report that Arsenal have made an enquiry – but Inter want to keep him. In fact, new manager Simone Inzaghi wants Martinez to sign a new contract at Inter. Martinez has since been speaking about his future, quoted by Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla’s website on Tuesday.
“Now a new season begins and then there will be the World Cup. I don’t want to limit myself, I want to win everything,” Martinez says. “I want to finish my career at Liniers – I will try to convince my wife. The alternative is to return to Racing, but in football it is difficult to make promises.”

Martinez would be one of Arsenal’s best-ever signings, amid comments on future
For that reason, Arsenal have no chance of getting a deal done for Martinez. Why would a player currently starring for Italy’s champions, who will obviously be in next season’s Champions League, want to play for Arsenal? The Gunners have not even qualified for the Europa Conference League.
So, while Arsenal fans will be excited by the club’s ambition and approach to get Martinez – there is simply no chance Arsenal would ever get him. The Gunners are best keeping Alexandre Lacazette and trying to pen him to a new contract, rather than spending big on Martinez.
