Report: Daniel Levy yet to sign off Nuno Santo appointment, has concerns linked to Mourinho
Tottenham are yet to make their mind up on a new manager, with Daniel Levy still having reservations over appointing Nuno Espirito Santo.
It’s been widely reported all week that Spurs are edging towards appointing Santo, with new man Fabio Paratici a big fan. However, the final decision will fall with Levy.
And according to Football.London, Levy is yet to be fully convinced on the appointment of Santo. He is said to have reservations over the Portuguese’s playing style. Indeed, he is said to be worried about a repeat of Jose Mourinho.
It means that – once again – the Spurs manager hunt could take a fresh twist despite things looking rosier yesterday. Santo, out of work since leaving Wolves, has been linked with Everton and Palace too.
But it is the approach from Spurs which has caught his eye. Paratici is said to be friends with Nuno Mendes, who is Santo’s agent. That relationship is said to be key in this potential appointment.
It appears, then, that there is still some way to go for Levy and Spurs.
When will it end for Tottenham fans? They need a manager ASAP
You almost expect a new twist in this saga now. Just when Spurs seem to be getting near, something emerges to suggest otherwise.
It’s clear Levy isn’t sold. If he was, Santo would have surely been announced already. Instead, another weekend is passing by with no one in charge.
In fairness, Levy is probably right to wait. He got burned with the Mourinho plunge and will want to avoid another expensive mistake. On the flipside, who else is he going to get?
Santo might be the best bet for Spurs at the moment. At least he knows the PL, and with Mendes on board, they’ll get some players too.
Levy, it seems, is feeling the pressure a little bit.
