Crystal Palace are set to complete the loan signing of Chelsea midfielder, Conor Gallagher, according to a report from Football.London.
The report claims Gallagher has already completed a medical with the Eagles ahead of a season-long loan move. It is a move Frank Lampard is happy to authorise as he looks to give the 20-year-old experience of Premier League football.
Gallagher enjoyed a stellar campaign with both Charlton and Swansea City last term in the Championship. He finished the campaign with an impressive 11 assists while also adding six goals to the cause.
But with game-time set to be limited at Stamford Bridge, the Blues are keen to continue Gallaghers’ development and it appears it is Palace who have won the race for him. This contrasts to reports this weekend that suggested West Brom were set to win the race.
Gallagher is set to pen a new deal with Chelsea before sealing any move away.
A fine signing for Roy Hodgson, who suddenly has some good creative options – TBR View
Palace relied so much on Wilfried Zaha last season that is was imperative that Roy Hodgson added some more creative quality and flair to his team this summer.
In signing Ebere Eze and now, seemingly, landing Gallagher, he will have addressed that issue. Gallagher is a quality young player who is already on the England radar, having played four times for the under-21s already.
Hodgson, then, will be hoping his young core of attacking midfield talent can drive his team even further up the PL table next season.
